Threadlift
(Face and Nose)

The laxity and volume loss that occurs in our soft tissues as we age are responsible for the noticeable drooping of our skin, the deepening of our nasolabial folds, the creation of jowls, and an overall "droopy" effect on our faces. A face thread lift is an alternative to a surgical facelift. It is a less invasive face-lifting process that does not include surgery and does not have the accompanying risks or recovery time.

What is a thread lift?

A thread lift is a non-surgical procedure that lifts and tightens the skin to make it appear younger. It is an alternative to traditional facelift surgery. Thread lifts are gaining more popularity in Singapore because :

  1. It is minimally invasive.
  2. The threads used can be completely absorbed by our bodies.
  3. It encourages the production of collagen.
  4. It restores face volume loss.
  5. It has zero downtime, unlike facelift surgery.
  6. It naturally elevates and tones the skin.

This procedure is often done on facial regions that have become “saggy” or seem to have lost some of their elasticity over time. These regions include facial features such as the jowls, jawline, forehead, cheeks, and under-eye region.

How does a thread lift procedure work?

Dissolvable threads are used to “lift” the skin, and this is non-surgical, compared to the traditional method of removing loose facial skin. Collagen, a protein that keeps our skin hydrated and glowing has its production increased by the threads, which will help you gain natural-looking results of tighter and youthful skin. As this protein is naturally produced by our bodies, this treatment does not place anything foreign on the skin, but only stimulates what’s in our own being.

Dissolvable threads are used to “lift” the skin and tighten the face. This treatment combats ageing and its signs effectively through not only enhancing appearance but also the production of collagen. The threads will improve the productions of collagen which will cause the face to have an improvement in tone and suppleness.

The threads used are so small that you will only experience mild discomfort during the treatments which makes it an attractive option for some, along with the added minimal downtime needed compared to surgery.

Why should I consider a thread lift?

Sagging cheeks and droopy jowls are common signs of ageing. If you have been looking for a non-surgical method of achieving your desired aesthetic, then thread lifts are for you. This treatment can create a more youthful and refreshing appearance for you without the need to go under the scalpel.

But that is not the only reason to consider it:

Immediate results
A change can be seen immediately after the treatment is over, even though it’s full effects can only be seen after a few months. Because of this, the results will be even more pronounced as time passes due to the stimulation of collagen production.

Increased collagen production
Collagen is a natural protein within our bodies that keeps our skin looking firm, plump, and youthful. As we age, we produce less of it, and this is what contributes to our skin losing elasticity, sagging, and so on. As the levels of collagen rise, we can fend off signs of ageing.

Low downtime
As the procedure is minimally invasive, it also comes with low downtime which is what contributes to the appeal of this treatment. You can return to your daily activities right after the treatment is complete.

What are the different types of threads used in a thread lift procedure?

Mono threads

The first type of thread used is known as mono threads. Mono threads have a smooth surface and are implanted in a way that is similar to a mesh, which encourages the synthesis of collagen. This aids in skin rejuvenation by tightening skin tissue. However, the smooth surface of mono threads makes it difficult for them to raise the skin, making it one of the disadvantages of using these threads.

Tornado threads

Tornado threads stand out amongst those here as two threads are used at once. This allows for a quicker treatment session. It can also stimulate a higher production of collagen compared to the other threads.

Cog threads

Unlike mono threads which are smooth, cog threads have tiny barbs which will lift sagging tissue by providing support to your face. You will be able to achieve the effect of a facelift without needing to undergo surgery. If you want only certain parts of your face to be targeted, then this type of thread can get the job done.
