What are moles and skin tags?
Moles are growth on the skin that is normally brown or black in colour. They usually occur when the cells in the skin multiply rapidly in a cluster instead of spreading throughout the skin. Moles can develop anywhere on the skin, alone or in groups.
Skin tags are painless, non cancerous growth on the skin. It is a small flap of tissue that hangs off the skin through a thin stalk called a peduncle. Skin tags are common among both men and women especially after the age of 50. The places where skin tags may appear are :
- Eyelids
- Face
- Neck
- Armpits
- Groin
- Thighs
- Area under the breasts
Although not painful, skin tags can often become irritated from constant rubbing with clothes or jewelleries.

Why remove moles and skin tags?
Most moles and skin tags are harmless. Nevertheless, they do affect our self confidence and in some cases, cause discomfort. It is not recommended to try and remove your skin tags or moles at home to avoid any infection or bleeding. Instead, it’s advisable to get it checked by a professional so they can access the issue and provide the right treatment. Usually if the moles or skin tags are harmless and hindering your confidence, we would recommend getting it removed.
Mole and Skin Tag Removal at Curamed Aesthetics
Curamed Aesthetics offers safe and minimally invasive skin tag and mole removal treatment. Local or topical anaesthesia will be administered prior to the procedure to ensure that the procedure is comfortable. There are three ways to remove a mole or skin tag :
- Skin tags may be snipped off with a scalpel or surgical scissors. Some moles can be removed from the skin. Deeper moles may have cells that grow underneath the skin, so we will make a deeper cut to remove the entire mole, preventing it from growing back.
- Skin tags and moles can also be removed easily and effectively with lasers or surgical devices that help to remove the unwanted lesion with minimal downtime and minimal risks of scarring. Depending on the size and the depth of the mole, you may need more than one treatment to remove a mole. Mild swelling and redness is expected, and downtime is expected to last around 5-7 days until the scabs are dropped off.
We will first assess your condition with proper consultation in order to ensure that your mole or skin tags are safe to be removed, and doctor will advise you on the best method appropriate to treat your skin lesion. Most of the minor procedures can be performed on the same day immediately after consultation.
